River study of Nanga by FES

Nanga (Dikhu) Greener Zone Project Committee (NGZPC) has thanked Foundation for Ecological Security (FES) North-East for funding the preliminary assessment study of Nanga/Tzula river ecology within the protected area, stretching from Ungma-Longsa upto A/Saghe-Naltoqa.

The team led by Dr. Limatemjen, assistant professor of Kohima Science College made the river study from September 10-14, where it was found to be conducive for increasing fish population.

In between, meeting with representatives of Greener Zone and village Councils of Limithsami, Sapotimi, Surumi and Alaphumi was also held.

Sanjay Sharma, Shilpi Roy, Alakesh Baruah of FES were accompanied by NEPED POU members, Chiden Yaden and Pikato Jimo, who deliberated on aims at understanding the river ecology, the need to protect spawning site and how pollution free can invite migration of fish from down-stream to Dikhu river, etc.
NGZPC assistant secretary, Hotoshe Awomi Suru stated that a thorough study may be conducted in these protected areas in the later part of the year when the water level comes down
