Eco-tourism and recreational spot launched in Mokokchung

The Tzula (Dikhu) Green Zone Project, Mokokchung launched Eco-tourism and a recreational spot at the Tzula (Dikhu) Green Zone conserved area, Mokokchung.

The programme was launched with a vision to offer tourists insight into the impact of human beings on the environment and to foster a greater appreciation of natural habitat and provide financial benefits to the conservation project. It focuses on socially responsible travel, personal growth, and environmental sustainability.

With a vision to teach as well as to entertain and relax, the recreational spot aims to provide information on the ecology and conservation issues pertinent to the area and effectively communicate with the tourists, helping them to interpret the natural environment and pointing out the sensitive areas and fragile ecosystems. Through cultural exchange it also aims to educate visitors and help them learn about local customs and social mores.

The recreational spot will be open for bookings only to international and national institutions, recognized groups and families. Route trekking, bird watching, butterfly and moth watching, salt-licks and fish breeding spots, river-side camping etc are some of the activities and attraction of the package. The recreational spot was dedicated by associate pastor, Ungma Baptist Church in the presence of village councils of Longsa and Ungma villages. The general meeting of TZ (D)GP was also held on the same day at the spot.
