Sprawled along the banks of Dutel River, the Yaongyimchen Alayong Community Biodiversity Conservation Area stretches over more than 700 hectares. A part of the Yingnyu Range, the area is characterised by high mountains, foot hills, low lands and stony areas bearing mid-tropical hills and lying under the tropical to sub-tropical agro- climatic/ecological zone. Several perennial and seasonal streams find their origin in this area. The forest is dominated by diverse species of trees. The vivid flora and fauna play a vital role in maintaining the ecological balance.

Yaongyimchen Community Conserved Area is famous as the roosting site for the Amur Falcon, a migratory raptor bird visiting the area each year from July through September. In response to massive hunting of the bird, the area was declared as a conserved area in 2012 , by three villages namely Yaongyimchen, Alayong and Sanglu, to provide a safe passage to Amur Falcon and protect its roosting site. The declaration led to a complete ban on the hunting of Amur Falcon and other wildlife, felling of trees, cultivation and fishing in the river.
